Meet our Social Media Director:


Kunal Mathur (@thekunalmathur) is a digital marketer specializing in social media marketing. He works in a US-based multinational company and handles social media team and projects in his current role. He is a HootSuite Certified Professional and recently authored a book, Instant Social Media Marketing with HootSuite. Kunal is an expert in social media listening, reputation management, competitive assessment and analysis, and lead generation. He enjoys playing cricket and chess and is a philatelist.

Fiona McEvoy (@fionajmcevoy) has almost ten years experience of running public affairs and PR campaigns in the United Kingdom. Formerly the Head of Campaigns at the British Bankers’ Association, most recently she acted as Social Media Analyst on the successful Vote Leave campaign that saw the UK exit the European Union. Other experience includes running largescale awareness campaigns (including digital) across the UK charity sector, and working as an agency-based PA and PR consultant to organizations such as MasterCard, Nespresso and HP. Though still engaged in campaigning and social media, Fiona is currently taking a professional sabbatical in order to study for a graduate degree in San Francisco.

We have a great team of entrepreneurs, developers, small business owners, PR and marketing professionals, journalists, and students publishing original content daily on the Social Media Club blog.

Our team provides valuable educational content including interviews, how-to’s, and case studies. Our contributors reflect SMC’s global community with bloggers from France, Israel, India, Singapore, Canada, and the United States.

Matthew Daley (@Matthew_Daley) is an award winning copywriter with agency experience at BBDO Toronto, JWT Inside Detroit and Campbell-Ewald Detroit. He is also a Professor of Copywriting in the advertising and graphic design programs at St. Clair College in Windsor, Ontario.

Audrey Rochas (@TrendSetting) is a digital strategy consultant. A digital native, she launched her first website in 2000 and has stuck to the web industry since then. After having worked for an agency specialized in e-reputation monitoring, she went back to school as a professor while working for her own clients. Audrey founded Creative Slashers at the end of 2013 in order to develop training and consulting to help companies get digital. Serial globe-trotting, she travels as much as possible to find new ideas and challenges.

Audrey Schroder (@audreyschroder) works for electronic cigarette company Vapor4Life. In February 2013, she joined the SMC Chicago board. Audrey enjoys learning about best practices in business and the digital world, exploring Chicago and writing reviews on Yelp.

Ethan Parry (@EthanParry3) is an undergraduate student in public relations. As a PR practitioner, Ethan loves establishing relationships with key industry leaders and anything that is social media related. He is particularly interested in the effects that social media have on youth. When Ethan is not on Twitter, Facebook or Google+, he loves to travel, take pictures, and spend time outside.

Jeannie Walters (@jeanniecw) is the Chief Customer Experience Investigator and Founder of 360Connext, a customer experience consulting firm. She has more than 15 years of experience helping companies improve retention, employee engagement, and overall customer experience. Jeannie is the Chicago lead for the Customer Experience Professionals Association (CXPA) and a member of Faith Popcorn’s Talent Bank. Along with serving as CEO, she writes for several publications and blogs, as well as speaks for audiences globally, including as a 2012 TEDx speaker. As a member and speaker for the CEO organizations Vistage International, she was Member of the Year in 2007. Jeannie lives outside of Chicago with her husband and two young sons.

Jennifer Gilreath Hanford (@jennghanford) is the owner and managing director of j+ Media Solutions, helping small businesses and professionals grow through social and content solutions. She enjoys writing and contributes regular articles to SteamFeed, ME Marketing Services, and FIT Medical Weight Loss Centers. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, baking and pinning on Pinterest.

Jessy Davis (@_jessydavis) is a marketing and public relations professional with experience in branding, promotion, and social media strategy. She currently serves as Communications Chair for the Chicago Creative Collective and is on the Young Professionals Network Committee for the PRSA Chicago chapter. When she’s not tweeting or blogging, you can find Jessy traveling to a new adventure, skiing, or scuba diving.

Joe Yeager (@JosephMYeager) is the social media administrator for Premier Dental, a leading manufacturer of professional dental products in a B2B environment, as well as the social media blogger for Calkins Media, which operates three newspapers in the greater Philadelphia area. Joe is also an adjunct faculty member at Philadelphia University. Most importantly, he is married to his wife, Denise, and they have a beautiful daughter, Maddie. As a concerned parent, Joe has focused on keeping children safe online and has created a Facebook page to provide parents with news, tips and advice.

Karynn Ikeda (@ktikeda) is a social media strategist turned event producer. After working for a digital agency in New York City, Karynn moved back to her native California and, in 2013, she started working on events for SF New Tech, Mobile Monday, AngelHack, FailCon, and the Lean Startup Conference. Devoted to the idea of connecting people for a better tomorrow, Karynn seeks to connect real space with digital space and can be regularly found live tweeting events in the tech and startup community.

Katy Schamberger (@katywrites) is a Kansas City-based freelance writer, editor, blogger, and author. She weaves together experience as a journalist, magazine editor, and chief content officer to deliver compelling copy that excites and inspires action. She writes about her favorite topic, Kansas City, for a variety of websites and publications. Other topics of interest include commercial real estate, urban redevelopment, digital marketing and technology. Because Katy knows the power of the written word (and has seen it in action), she also speaks about and consults on content creation, blogging for business, and content marketing. Lisa Coleman (@CityHealthChick) is a strategic business program manager consultant with expertise in digital, strategy/planning, and marketing. Her passion is healthcare. She has worked broadly across healthcare as well as blogs about the intersection of public health, business, and consumer technology. It is Lisa’s hope through her work to support busy city dwelling professionals in improving their health. In her free time, she enjoys reading, yoga, documentaries, traveling, and volunteering in the community as it relates to animals as well as the free library. She travels between Philadelphia and Washington, DC.

Melissa De Witte (@MelissaDeWitte) is a media marketing consultant with an Master’s degree in Media, Culture & Communication from New York University & a BSc in Sociology from the London School of Economics. Her work experience includes advertising at the Financial Times, handling social media for international fashion retailer Monsoon Accessorize, and managing online editorial at Park Slope Parents. Melissa was also a teaching assistant in the media department at NYU & worked with its Senior Vice Provost on an award-winning documentary film.

Melissa Kerwin (@melissa_kerwin) is a social media analyst, specializing in paid social media and social media advertising for sports and entertainment clients. Her background in economics provides a unique perspective on analysis and consumer behavior, along with mastering campaigns to deliver revenue generating results. Melissa has worked with a wide range of high profile clients including Feld Entertainment, The Radio City Christmas Spectacular, MetLife Stadium, The Fox Theatre Atlanta, The Franklin Museum, and The BB&T Atlanta Open.

Melissa Pont (@melissapont) is a Social Marketing Manager at SaleAMP, an online marketing agency located in Austin, Texas, and a blogger for Social Ice Cream. She enjoys film photography, kayaking at Lady Bird Lake, and going on adventures with her puppy Olive.

Michael Lis (@mikeylis) is an experienced business leader with a track record of starting social media projects for Aria Resort and Casino, MB Financial Bank, and Nike. He is the founder and thought leader behind social media agency SPECK Media with offices in Chicago and Las Vegas. Michael educates companies on how social media strategy can help with marketing, branding, product co-creation, customer support, and crisis management.

Mireille Massue (@Mireille10) is re-entering the workforce after a lengthy sabbatical from a position as VP of International Training. She has a marketing degree with a background in organizational learning, and online learning. Mireille was an associate producer for television during her career and is interested in ‘hands on’ corporate education, combining the areas of broadcasting, technology and education to create healthy creative learning environments (think Pixar Studios) where people can participate in their own learning through conversation and collaboration.

Mordecai Holtz (@mordecaiholtz) is currently an independent social media consultant where he helps companies and non-profits leverage the power of engagement via a host of social media platforms. His passion for bridging social good and social media has helped his clients boost their online brand recognition and awareness. When Mordecai is not engaging on Twitter or Facebook, you can find him either writing on his blog, running, or taking care of his 5 amazing children.

Paul Tucker (@PaulAndTucker) is a communications coordinator for the Carpet and Rug Institute, the trade association for the carpet industry. Paul’s work at CRI includes managing their blog, maintaining the organization’s social media presence, and traveling to industry tradeshows. His background is in writing, which started at a small town paper and turned into a career in public relations. Paul is always trying to learn the latest in business trends and social media strategy. Paul has a BA in Communication Studies from Carson-Newman University. His chief interests include golf, racking up frequent flyer miles, and cowboy boots.

Rachael Genson (@rmgenson) is a public relations professional at INK. For the last several years, she worked in the technology industry helping clients create a connection between their brand and their consumers. Her focus is on mobile and consumer electronics, but Rachael has experience in many B2B and B2C sectors, and has worked with a variety of companies from the startup to the billion dollar global corporation. Rachael is passionate about writing, and can often be found sharing stories on her personal blog or through her Twitter account. When Rachael has a moment to unplug, you can find her digging into a good book or exploring all that her hometown of Austin, Texas offers.

Richard Wong (@richardwwc) is the founder of Singapore-based social media agency GisMo ConneXion Services. He is also a Trainer with Econsultancy in Singapore and Malaysia for their Social Media and Online PR courses. With 20+ years of corporate and entrepreneur experience, Richard has extensive market exposure from North to South Asia and in-depth knowledge on corporate operations across multiple industries.

Robin Smothers (@robinmarie) is a digital marketing and communications strategist for the Minneapolis Park Board. Prior to joining the Board in 2012, she worked as a consultant for more than 15 years, helping non-profits, government organizations, and school districts gain the public’s attention, spark conversations, and drive community engagement to promote and improve their organizational missions. Robin holds a MPA in Community Engagement and a BA in Journalism. She’s an avid walker and reader — but has yet to master doing both at the same time.

Shikha Pakhide (@shikhashikz) is a marketing professional with rich experience handling lead generation activities across the globe with a strong bent towards international marketing. She sees herself more as a community developer and loves to experiment new ways on how to keep the community alive.

Syed M. Raza (@syedmraza) is a social media strategist for Evolven Software and is the person behind the @Evolven handle. An editorial team member since 2010, Syed also serves on SMC’s global observation observation team.
