Since our inception in 2006, the Social Media Club of San Francisco has been the Bay Area’s premier social media professional organization. We’ve worked hard to bring you fun and informative professional development events and networking opportunities, and we’re excited to launch our 2014 programming at our kickoff event, a happy hour on Jan. 22 at Tres SF.
We’ve also got a new leadership team in place for 2014. Here’s a little preview of who we are, but come get to know us on Jan. 22.
President: Jennifer Donovan should be a familiar face from her work with SMCSFO last year. Jennifer runs her own consulting practice, Nova Communications, helping small to medium size businesses design, plan and execute social media and public relations programs. Jennifer combines traditional and evolving communications methods to develop unique programs to allow companies of all sizes to stand out and make a name for themselves through powerful messages and engaging content. She’s spent 16 years working for various PR agencies and most recently spent nine years working at Akamai Technologies, where she launched their global social media program. Membership Director: Kriselle Laran, also a familiar face from last year, directs digital engagement and content marketing for the Silicon Valley office of Zeno Group, a Daniel J. Edelman company. Her work with technology and business-to-business clients has achieved national recognition, and she is an experienced speaker at various events such as the PRNews Next Practices PR Summit, SXSW and Women Who Tech.
Treasurer: Justine Navaja, a California native, returned to the Bay Area this past summer after a five year stint in NYC and is excited to get more involved with the social media community in San Francisco. She spent the majority of her career at PR & social media agencies and recently transitioned to the tech startup world as the San Francisco Market Director for Spredfast, a social media management software company.
Secretary: Lauren Noelle Gauthier, a Washington, DC native, finally fulfilled her dream of living on the west coast in 2012. Now she’s taking advantage of everything San Francisco has to offer, including a new job at eBay as Social Media Community Manager. So, what’s up next for this city girl and coffee fiend? Exploring the city on foot, learning French, and getting into extreme sports.
Marketing Communications Director: Clair McDevitt is the Marketing & Communications Manager for Community Initiatives. She has more than 15 years experience as a writer and editor, and has spent the majority of her career in the nonprofit sector since figuring out that newspaper reporters may be a dying breed. When she’s not writing witty prose for the Internet, Clair can be found riding her bicycle with Team in Training or cheering on the San Francisco Giants.
Programming Director: Jennifer Kirk, Principal Social Media Engagement Manager, EMC, leads social media strategy and social content creation and curation for EMC’s Backup and Recovery Division. She’s also deeply involved with social listening and analytics, social metrics and reporting, social engagement, blog strategy, community strategy and engagement, and social media workshops and training for the BRS Division. She’s previously worked at Netbase, Cisco and Jelli. Jennifer is passionate about music and food, and is actively involved with SF Foodies.
Board member Aly Galloway is a recent transplant from Washington, DC, and is the Community Engagement Manager for the Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation. She earned her BA from UCLA and her MA from the Monterey Institute of International Studies, and also serves as the Social Media Coordinator for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network’s Bay Area chapter.
