August 31 #SMEDU Chat: Student vs. Educator Privacy
Calling all students, educators, administrators and highered guru's! Join us tomorrow for our weekly SMEDU Twitter chat at Noon and 9 PM ET. Following the hashtag #SMEDU as we take a look at student vs. educator privacy.
This topic always seems to have a lot of action, since opinions are constantly changing for inside and outside of classroom social media use.
Just recently the state of Missouri passed a law banning educators from "friending" a student on Facebook, only to have it overturned just a few days ago. So, this week as we all head back to campus we're going to ask, are you Facebook friends with your students? Students, are you hoping to connect with your professors using social media this semester? What does this mean?
Formal questions to expect at the chat:
Q1: Should professors and students use social media to connect throughout the semester? Why, or why not?
Q2: What are some best practices for connecting with college students using social media?
Q3: What are some of your concerns as professors or students regarding the privacy line of social media?
Q4: Does your school have any policies or rules about students/professor connections using social media?
Hope you can join us for some great conversation tomorrow!
