My name is Hillary Till, and I am the new SMCEDU Student Liaison

My name is Hillary Till and I am the new Social Media Club Student Chapter Liaison. I will be helping to ensure the University chapters are running smoothly and getting the best Social Media Club experience as possible.
I graduated from Texas State University-San Marcos in December 2010 with a BA in Public Relations. Not only do I have a passion for social media, but also to educate others about it.
Being a recent college graduate, I understand the challenges students are facing in school, and after graduating. I believe by learning more about social media and utilizing social media tools, students will have more confidence in their online practices.
Some of my responsibilities for SMCEDU will be to work alongside with the SMCEDU Advisory Board to establish mentoring, to host SMCEDU webinars with various topics for students to learn job skills, and to develop more content on the SMCEDU blog.
Currently, SMCEDU offers students many resources that will enhance their social media experience. Each chapter has a spot on the SMC website that includes a blog and an event calendar. Also, each Monday at 9:30 a.m. PST a live SMCEDU chat takes place on Twitter under #smcedu. Each week features a new topic with a guest host.
In addition, SMCEDU is hoping to develop a mentoring program by pairing a university chapter with a local city chapter. This will help students create networking opportunities and to see where their education of social media is effective in the work world. Also, SMC has a new website in progress that will provide a more attractive layout and easier usability.
I’m looking forward to contributing to each university chapter and to helping students become digital citizens while enriching their online knowledge. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at hillary(at)socialmediaclub(dot)org. I’ll be more than happy to help in any way possible.
