Magna Branding Holy Grail

The Miami Heat ripped at the end of the second quarter on Sunday in game 5 of the NBA Finals vs. the San Antonio Spurs. The Heat, once down as much as 15, cut the lead down to 7 before Tony Parker hit a buzzer beating lay in. As the game faded into a commercial break, this advertising appeared to announce the release of Jay-Z’s new album, “Magna Carta Holy Grail”:

With the High Cost of Bringing Customers In, Make Sure They Leave Happy!

The last customer touch pointWith as much money as you spend on getting
customers through the door and salespeople to get them to buy something, it
just doesn’t make sense to have the last customer touch point sully the entire
experience.

Nashville Networking: Lessons learned from "New Business Networking"

I thought I knew a lot about networking until I read the book,  New Business Networking, by Dave Delaney. Seriously, my friends refer to me as the "queen of networking" in Nashville. Of course, I don't  claim to know everyone or everything, but I have met a few people along the way in creating and growing  Social Media Club Nashville.

What Social Media Marketers Should and Shouldn’t Do

A journalist contacted me with some questions about social media marketing that I hear quite often. I thought I’d share my responses here. These thoughts are particularly directed at B2B marketers.

What are three or four things social media marketers should do, and explain why they’re important.

1. Listen to your market and customers using tools like Twitter filters, Google Alerts and LinkedIn searches. This is free research that complements your existing market intelligence and provides real-time insight on what people are saying about your company and your market.

2. Identify the social media channels that your customers use – if any – and stake out at least a basic presence there. You don’t need to be active on every social network, but you do need to understand the culture of the ones that matter and you do need to respond to customers when they ask questions or talk about you there.

Why Encrypt Your Email?

Let’s talk for a moment about email.  As an instrument of communication, email allows us to conduct business, catch up with friends, send links, and share information. In the not-too-distant past, postal mail accomplished those same things, albeit more slowly – hence the name “snail mail” in use today.  The variety of communications that travel through postal mail utilize varying degrees of security for their content – from the “wish you were here” of postcards to the lined envelopes that carry checks and personal letters.  Common sense dictates the level of security an individual uses for their postal mail communications, and yet this same common sense is often absent in email communications.

Consider this:  if you don’t encrypt your email, you might as well be writing everything on a postcard and sending it out in the mail, where anyone could read it.

Auctionata: When Social meets Online Auctions

As a lover of design and all things digital, Jef Kalil recalls a specific moment that sparked his passion for online media: watching the VT100 animation “Bambi vs. Godzilla” at Digital Equipment Corporation when he was just 8 years old.

Later on in his life, he followed his heart and pursued an Architecture and Design career in Boston which led him to study abroad in Germany. There, he discovered the Bauhaus and the real meaning of “less is more” which may have very well helped in establishing a second passion of his – to deliver content in 140 characters or less.
