The Final Letter from our Summer Intern
Sadly this was my last week here at On Ideas. This internship has provided me with such an insightful perspective into Advertising and Public Relations! I’ve been fortunate enough to gain first-hand exposure to industry life by some outstanding mentors!
As one of my last tasks I learned how to utilize Pinterest! With the presidential election fast approaching political advertisements are appearing in every type of media outlet in existence. Political advertisements are watched nearly as much as Super Bowl ads. The popularity of these ads grabbed On Ideas’ interest so I searched for 2012 presidential ads on Google and pinned them. By pinning the various ads the agency can gain more awareness as to the different types of ads that are being sent out to the public.
I also went through On Idea’s past blogs and pinned the pictures and graphics they contained to the On Ideas Pinterest page. Pinning visuals from past blogs increases On Ideas’ website traffic because everything on Pinterest follows a click and get method.
I hope everyone knows how Pinterest operates, but just to fill in those that don’t know, users must scroll through pictures and when they find something that sparks their interest they must click on it to see a bigger version of it. If the individual is still enticed after seeing a closer look then they must click again to be brought to the original page the visual is located on to learn what it is. So when people click On Ideas’ pins they are then directed to the blog that it came from, therefore bringing more traffic to the website. This process is called inbound marketing; it creates more exposure for the agency but also leads the user to the information they want … two birds with one stone!
On Ideas has been a great transition for me to start my post-grad journey. This agency definitely has some of the most interesting and amazing characters I have ever met, and I am so grateful I had the opportunity to work with them!
My time at the agency has concluded and now I’m on the daunting yet exciting task of finding my first, real full time job! As Barney Stinson says ..

Thanks for reading my blogs, I hope you enjoyed them and gained some knowledge from them.
Thank you for everything you taught me On Ideas!
