On Ideas Celebrates National Take Your Dog To Work Day
Today is National Take Your Dog To Work Day (TYDTW Day)!
Most people immediately think of this day as a day to brag about your pooch to coworkers while showing off their tricks and receiving kisses; however, there is a national campaign behind the creation of TYDTW Day, to promote pet adoption.
American Pet Products Manufacturers Association found intriguing statistics about TYDTW Day.
- 53 million people believe having pets in the workplace decreases absenteeism.
- 38 million say having pets at work creates a more productive work environment.
- 46 million people who bring their pets to the office say they work longer hours.
- Dogs can reduce employee stress, too, thus employees have better moods in general, and they’re more likely to interact socially with other employees.
Yet, intake at animal shelters continues to increase at a shocking rate. According to Pet Sitters International Inc. nearly six to eight million cats and dogs enter shelters in America each year. The Humane Society of the U.S. estimates that nearly half of these pets are eventually euthanized.
Around 300 businesses participated in the initial celebration of TYDTW Day. Since that time, America’s affection with pets and interest in TYDTW Dayhas continually grown.
On Ideas is a strong believer in the benefits of having a dog friendly office, which is why dogs are always allowed to come to work here! The most frequent pup that I have seen in the office is Frank’s miniature Australian Shepherd, Ozzie! He is so enthusiastic about playing fetch with his plastic chicken toy, and anytime he gets a wiff of your lunch you can bet on it that he will be following you begging for you to share.
The atmosphere in the office today is definitely filled with high spirits because of the tail-wagging friends in the office. These dogs are working hard today so they can enjoy their weekend too!
If you want some musical delight as well check out this TYDTWD song I found on their website!
