Letters from a Summer Intern: Week 3
The past two weeks have been jam-packed.
I started last week off by diving into social media a bit by writing copy for Facebook and Twitter. I looked at the calendar for June to see if there were any holidays or observances that we could relate back to our social media pages. I learned that June 15th is Smile Power Day and June 27 is Happy Birthday to the Happy Birthday Song Day! I think one of the funniest ones I saw for June is the Festival of Utter Confusion Day.
Another highlight of last week was attending a meeting discussing how the On Ideas creative team will be collaborating to develop a video case study about one of our clients. One of my mentors, Clancy Bryant, filled me in by explaining the goal of creating the video. Once the case study is posted on the OI website it will provide potential clients a visual display of some of OI’s successes.
This week I was fortunate enough to meet with On Ideas’ PR Account Executive Kortney Wesley to discuss the Public Relations Industry from her perspective. She shared tons of valuable little tidbits about PR life. I got to see some of her current work and listen to some of her most frustrating and most rewarding moments with clients!
I wrapped up the week by doing research on current trends in the world of digital wallets. All one would use to make purchases would be their phone. That’s right … credit cards and dollars will no longer be needed, simply a swipe of your phone at a checkout counter will do the trick. I don’t know about you, but I’m a bit concerned about what would happen if an individual’s phone breaks … guess you’re not buying your groceries that day…
As an added bonus I got numerous visits by some of the office dogs these past two weeks! This is Alexis’ pup, Molly!
