Dipping Your Twitter Feed into your Facebook Page – Great Together!
Mixing your Twitter feed and your Facebook Page feed is typically considered a Facebook faux pas – it has even been suggested that doing could actually lower user interaction and reduce your ability to rank prominently on the “Top News” tab of Facebook.
Bring It On I say! – so I did the inevitable and against my better judgment dipped my Twitter feed to my Facebook page – and survived to tell about it.
To be honest, it worked out quite well – Twitter and Facebook surprisingly work well together – I’m sure the picture makes sense to you now. . . .
Co-mingling Twitter and Facebook did not cause a cataclysmic analytic palpitation; on the contrary, doing so has actually increased Facebook user interaction on my Facebook page. Surprise!
Twitter & Facebook – great together
I’ve heard many experts say that adding your Twitter feed to your Facebook page could lessen the amount of “Likes” and “Shares” of your content and lower your ability to show prominently on the Facebook feed – which is ranked like Google and measured in terms of “Edge Rank”. The general advice was – DON’T DO IT. That was the thought anyway, but I guess it all depends on the context of your tweets and how they complement your blog messages. Strategy goals and expectations for your FB page should also come into play I suppose.
As for me, I just want to hear responses and thoughts from my readers on what I post – edge rank – not a big concern for me at this point and I was willing to take the risk in the name of science.
So – if you’re reading this and are contemplating on dipping your Twitter Feed into your Facebook Page as I have done; keep in mind that quality content is a conduit for connectivity; not an insulator. Happy blogging!
