Online presence is a must for successful SME’s

New research has revealed that only half of all SMEs possess an online presence despite this leaving their market position open to threat from competitors.

Findings from the Federation of Small Business (FSB) have also shown less than 20 per cent of the nation’s SMEs are actively trading over the internet.

This is despite the global audience that an online presence could potentially bring.

David Mill, managing director of MediaCo, says: ‘There is a grave danger for companies who don’t have an online presence. Competitors who are online are likely to gain a stronger share of the market as more customers use the internet to source products or services.’

These processes range from a small online brochure to a fully-functional e-commerce site. Businesses also have the option to employ an online marketing company to assist them with search engine and email marketing services.
