Need a recap of tonight’s hang-out? Read on to find out what went down in MGC 203 at 8 pm!
The omnipresent @talan kicked off with a mini-lecture on how long social media’s been around – think as early as 1517, when Martin Luther nailed his Ninety-Five Theses to the door of a church and set the Protestant Reformation in motion. Talan also gave a brief bio, portrayed social media as an evolving organism, and plugged AU SOC’s #HelloMcKinley contest. Find out more at SOC’s website for the event!
Second, fast-approaching is our first big event of the semester: the Hyper Network. What is the Hyper Network, you ask? An annual event cosponsored by AUSMC and AUPRSSA, it features a panel of communications professionals, post-panel networking, and (the real reason you’re coming) free food. This year it’ll be held in the SIS Atrium on Tuesday, November 6, at 6 pm, so invite your friends! We’ll keep you posted via the Hyper Network’s Facebook, so be sure to like the page.
In the slightly more distant future, our event Prep Yourself Before You Rep Yourself will be on Wednesday, November 20th. It’s still in the works, but it’ll feature different stations and organizations to get you career ready. If you have any ideas for stations, feel free to email the club or tweet at us! Suggestions made at this week’s meeting include mock interviews and elevator pitches.
At the end of the meeting, we left you with a few reminders. The website features open internships you should definitely apply for, as well as a blog, which we invite our members to contribute to! Again, feel free to email the club, tweet at us, or come talk to us post-meeting.
Thanks for reading, and watch for a message about next week’s meeting!
