SOCIAL MEDIA CLUB BUFFALO TO HOST FOURSQUARE DAY 2012 PARTY
Local Chapter to Recognize National Foursquare Day with Hundreds of Other Cities
BUFFALO, NY – Social Media Club Buffalo will host the official local celebration for National Foursquare Day 2012 at Rohall’s Corner, 540 Amherst Street in Buffalo, on Mon. April 16, 2012 starting at 6pm. The organization hopes to provide an opportunity for Foursquare users and social media enthusiasts to gather and celebrate one of the most popular Smartphone apps.
The party is free to attend and includes giveaways from the Foursquare brand as well as an exclusive Foursquare Day Buffalo pin (new this year). A local food truck and drink specials will also be available. SMCBuffalo will also be doing a “speed dating” version of beSOCIAL, their monthly roundtable chat.
Foursquare, a location-based social media tool, allows users to “check-in” to businesses and locales within an area. It connects those who are “friends” on the application, allowing the user to see who is where at what time. The application also serves businesses by allowing them to advertise specials and showcase photos of their venue. It’s also a great way for travelers to find popular places to eat drink and visit. Rohall’s will have its own Foursquare check-in special the day of the event.
“Foursquare is immensely popular in Western New York, particularly among food and drink enthusiasts,” said Nicole Schuman, president of SMCBuffalo. “It’s another great way for businesses to get their name out there without spending money on advertising.”
