Thursday September 19: Starting Savvy in Soda City, with Greg Hilton
Greg Hilton and the folks at CETi have an idea. Actually, they have lots of ideas, but the idea that’s going to bring him to speak with SMCCSC on Thursday September 19, 2013? Well, it’s an idea that invites and challenges us to put our sharing where our knowledge is… our knowledge where our sharing is… you know what I mean. No, don’t make that face, I know you know what I mean. Read the next paragraph, and then meet me at paragraph three for more information.
CETi, more formally known as the Center for Entrepreneurial and Technological Innovation, is the University of South Carolina’s startup center. A ”launch pad and connection point for students, faculty, alumni and entrepreneurs affiliated with the University of South Carolina.”, they’re an Innovista Partners Initiative, powered by the USC/Columbia Technology Incubator. (Disclosure alert! I work for GraySail, an Incubator-graduate company.) We can all agree that building better businesses in Columbia leads to a stronger economy, a stronger community, and increased happiness all the way around! But do we all agree on the best way to build a social media community? How? Why? When? For that matter, WHO? Most businesses don’t want to miss out on the opportunity to connect with their communities online, but where will they learn how to go about it? How do they tell their stories and build the relationships to generate social media momentum?
As I said up there in paragraph one, Greg and the folks at CETi have an idea: Let’s create a new generation of social media savvy startups in Columbia by creating opportunities for the people behind the startups to learn from those of us for whom social media is a way of life. But… how? That’s where we come in! Join us for Social Media Club Columbia this month to have a conversation, share your ideas, and make your mark in helping shape the social marketplace for future Columbia businesses.
This is where the magic happens, SMCCSC. This is what it’s about. See you 9/19.
