GET BOLD with your Social Business AGENDA | Get Bold Book Review

“Social media” is not cute. It’s real and it’s necessary. Sandy Carter’s Get Bold is the blueprint for turning your business into a Social Business. Carter is the Vice President / Social Business Evangelism at IBM. Many of the examples of social engagement in Get Bold are from IBM. Fortunately, these tactics can be applied to almost any business. The book is centered around The Social Business AGENDA framework. The framework is broken down into the following six workstreams:
Nonprofits Must Change If They Want to Survive
Nonprofits have relied on consistent monetary donations from the same people for a lifetime. They’ve been ruled by white, male boards in closed meetings. If they want to keep changing the world, they too must change.
Our recent Social Media Club mixer was a discussion of Beth Kanter’s The Networked Nonprofit. She has amazing insight into social media strategy for any organization. Steve Garfield's Get Seen: Book Review
Steve Garfield’s Get Seen: Online Video Secrets To Building Your Business is a Bible-like book packed with tips, tools, instructions and interviews written to empower those interested in leveraging video to build their business. Want to stream video live? This book will tell you how. Have a limited budget? That’s okay… this book will explain how to get the job done with inexpensive investments.
The main draw for this book is its tone. I can tell that Garfield is passionate about the subject. He genuinely wants to transfer that passion to the reader. It’s written so that anyone on any level can grasp its concepts and run with them. His knowledge on the history of online video helps put things into perspective as far as how far the medium has come in relatively short time.
