There’s a stereotype that follows Secret Service agents. A black-suit-black-tie, all-business, slightly intimidating stereotype. So when Secret Service Special Agent David Bentz began his presentation, imagine everyone’s surprise when we discovered two very important things:
1) The Secret Service has a sense of humor, and 2) that they are very much on top of things in the world of internet security.
After starting out with a warning that he would shoot any mobile devices being used by his audience during his presentation (causing a few of us to discreetly lower our iPhones, at least for a few minutes), Agent David Bentz gave us a brief history of the Secret Service.
To celebrate an exciting first year, we’re throwing a party at the brand new Barcadia Fort Worth on Thursday, September 15, from 7-10 p.m.
This party is an opportunity for all of our members to celebrate the club’s success and also a chance for friends, co-workers and others in the community to come see what we’re all about.
Barcadia Fort Worth opens the week before the party, so this will be the perfect time to come check out an awesome new Fort Worth spot.
There is no cost to attend, but please RSVP (if you can) here.
Join Social Media Club Fort Worth on Wednesday, August 10 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Fort Worth Club for a hands-on, interactive speaker event with AT&T.
AT&T’s latest and greatest devices will be available to play with before and after the speaker and AT&T representatives will be on hand to answer questions and give demonstrations.
The man who determines and drives AT&T’s social media, Christopher Baccus will be speaking on the topic, Using Mobile Social Media to Deliver Your Company’s Promise.
We’re very excited to be joined by Special Agent David Bentz of the U.S. Secret Service for our speaker event on Wednesday, July 27 from 6-8 p.m. at Chimy’s in their new private event space.
Tickets are only $10!
Agent Bentz, group leader of the North Texas Electronic Crimes Task Force, will be talking about security in social media and the Secret Service’s Electronic Crimes Task Force.
If we told you any more, we’d have to kill you.
Join the Social Media Club of Fort Worth at Frankie’s Sports Bar and Grill from 6-8pm on Thursday, July 14, for our July Tweetup! Come on out and enjoy a beer or cocktail and meet some of the members of the SMCFW. Plus, the SMCFW Tweetups are a great place to learn about the latest trends in social media. USA Today said Frankie’s had a menu, “On Steroids” with over 90 items to pick from, so you may want to check that out while you’re there, too!
