Inaugural Event/ Foursquare Day – Recap
We are here! We are here! Social Media Club Gaithersburg has officially had our inaugural event! We are so excited to connect to and be utilized by the community.
Foursquare Day started with a bang! So many “badges”, tickets, gift cards, t-shirts, and other freebies were lined up and ready for a new home.

After a little mix and mingling, it was time to welcome our first guest, Gaithersburg Mayor Sidney Katz. Mayor Katz joined our Inaugural Event to Proclaim April 16th officially Foursquare Day in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

Thank you to Mayor Katz for taking time out of your busy schedule to join us on Foursquare Day.
Next, Ann Bevans-Selig joined us to discuss "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly: Foursquare Wins and Losses for Business.”

Ann’s talk gave our business owners several great case studies of how businesses around the world utilize Foursquare in a cost effective manner to increase their overall sales.
Following Ann, Shannon Renee Mouton joined us. Shannon covered, "Top Ten Reasons We Check-in.”

Shannon pointed out a wide variety of reasons why people take part in Foursquare. Those reasons range from wanting the most points or badges to simply wanting to share, “I’m here!”
Thank you to Ann and Shannon for taking time to share with us two sides of Foursquare.

Our inaugural event was not just about joining together to toast to Foursquare, but to take care of our community. The event took place at Dogfish Head Alehouse, in Gaithersburg. Dogfish graciously donated 10% of all food sales the evening of April 16th to Manna Food Center.
Thank you to Dogfish for not only donating event space, but for this donation to Manna Food Center.
Last, but not least, thank you to all our attendees! The SMC Gaithersburg team is excited the chapter is officially open. Please take a moment to join the Chapter for up to date information on upcoming events. We are also available on Facebook (Fb.com/SocialMediaClubGburg) and Twitter (Twitter.com/SMCgburg).
