Why We're Charging $5 For SMCKC Breakfasts
Hi gang-
I owe everyone a big apology.
We began to ask for $5 to attend SMCKC Breakfasts (apart from normal breakfast charges) starting in February and we did a really crappy job of letting the community know before we did it and most importantly why. It's my job as President to make sure that any changes like this are communicated to you and we have many channels to choose from.
We've been so proud to be able to offer SMCKC breakfasts for no charge to everyone since 2008. The reasons that your Board voted on the $5 charge was two fold:
The first and most pressing was that we had incurred costs when we bought all of the equipment that we use at breakfast with the monitor, mics, screen & projector costing $1000. This and other hard expenses were adding up and we didn't feel it was right to be going out of our board member's pockets, especially my own.
Reflection: Pinterest Potluck and Happy Hour_February 16 event
Social media enthusiasts explored the different uses of Pinterest.com during the S.M.C.K.C. February 16 event. The Pinterest-inspired happy hour spread at Barkley really seemed to showcase the function of Pinterest, to share ideas and discoveries with the group. Not knowing much about the Pinterest myself beyond the photo-sharing aspect, the casual discussion was a great tool in learning more about Pinterest and how to navigate it.
“What” Pin
The usability of online media sharing seems to becoming more similar to how people function in real life. The purpose of Pinterest is to share photos, videos, with other Pinterest account users like you would pinning a picture to a corkboard. Users can add content by using the Pin It button or by uploading it from their computer or smart phone.
