Severe Weather with 6News meteorologist Rick Katzfey - March 26

It’s spring, which in Kansas means storm season. This week at Social Media Club of Lawrence, 6News chief meteorologist Rick Katzfey (@WeatherRick) will talk about his experiences with social media and severe weather, including his involvement with the Joplin tornado hours before it hit. Come listen to Rick’s stories and share your own tips on how you track severe weather during storm season.

This week, we’ll be showcasing the social media strategy used by The Sandbar. Debbi Johanning will share what social media channels she uses to promote The Sandbar and talk a little about her strategies for promoting the annual Block Party, which celebrated its fifth year in 2013.

How the American Red Cross team uses social media during disaster recovery - Oct. 23

Join us this week as Meghan Spreer, Communications Director for the KS Capital American Red Cross, shares how they use information from field work and on the ground to populate social media and web locally and nationally with content and service delivery information - used by public and media. Meghan just recently returned from working onsite during the Colorado flooding recovery efforts.
