Social Media Club Lawrence Census 2011 Results

We wanted to share some exciting results from our 2011 census involving Social Media Club Lawrence where innovators from Kansas meet for monthly events to share, engage and collaborate with the community on the issues of social media and technology.  Our Facebook page has grown to 293 members and our Twitter feed, to 722 members. RECAP: Solutions Meeting with Douglas County Dental Clinic

Today's Social Media Club of Lawrence meeting featured the Douglas County Dental Clinic as the subject of our popular monthly solutions meeting.

The Douglas County Dental Clinic is a local non-profit organization with roots in Health Care Access, another local non-profit. The Dental Clinic began in October, 2001, as a mostly volunteer organization after a need for free or low-cost dental care was identified. In the first year, the Clinic saw 53 patients. Last year, they saw 6100. Approximately half of their patients are children. The Clinic will see patients who have income up to 200% of the federal poverty level.

RECAP: Presentation by Annie Noll, Ottawa University

Our first meeting in our new location- Java Break- featured Annie Noll, social media specialist at Ottawa University, presenting to a packed room of Social Media Club members.

Annie started her job at Ottawa in September, 2009. The position of social media specialist was newly created, so she started with nothing: no Facebook, Twitter, or any other social media sites for Ottawa existed, other than rogue sites created by fans. Since there was no social media precedent for her to follow, her motto has been "live and learn" as she has built up their social media strategy.
