Congratulations to the new #smclk board!
I’m pleased to finally announce the new board members for Social Media Club of Lawrence!
Since we’re a small group, we didn’t hold any type of election. Rather, we asked our community members to apply if they were interested in serving and to let us know what area they wanted to work on, and then our current board figured out where to assign everyone.
We are lucky to have such a committed group of volunteers and members in Lawrence. Nine people applied to be on the board. (One person had to withdraw because she got a new job in Kansas City. We’re sad to lose another member to the KC commute!)
Here are the new board members and their assignments:
Josh Davis, @joshd
Cheryl Hanback, @chanback
Beth McKeon, @beth_mckeon
Charlie Bryan, @charliebryan
Adrian Jacobs, @adrianjacobs
Christine Metz, @christinemetz
Education, Technology and Advocacy
Patrick Conroy, @patricksboat
Lindsey Diepenbrock, @lindseyslater
You might notice that most of the positions have two people assigned. This is partly because we want to give everyone who wants to volunteer the opportunity; it’s also because weekly meetings are a lot of work, and we’re hopeful that with additional people on the board and assigned to these positions- particularly programs and promotions- that we’ll be able to grow the group and expand it.
There have been many, many requests for evening meetings, and we’re hopeful that 2013 will bring more opportunities for additional meetings besides the regular 7:30 a.m. on Wednesdays.
Don’t hesitate to contact any of the new board members with questions, suggestions or congratulations!
I’ll stick around in an advisory/ex-officio capacity, but I’m confident this group will do a great job.
I’ve really enjoyed serving as your chairperson this past year, and the outgoing board- Josh Davis, Patrick Conroy, Lisa Ramler, Eric Gruber and Austin Falley- was great fun to work with.
Here’s to a great 2013 for Social Media Club of Lawrence!
