Email marketing and social media

The last few years have been huge in the proliferation of social media platforms. It seems like every day there’s a hot, new app reaching the digital masses.

But professionals often forget the most important tool in their marketing arsenal — email — which is still the most effective way to reach your audience.

According to the Direct Marketing Association, email return on investment in 2012 will be $28.50, the highest of any direct marketing medium. Email is expected to drive $67.8 billion in sales in 2012.

Given the effectiveness of email marketing, Social Media Club of Lawrence hosted a special evening session on June 21 highlighting the medium. Jessica Best, of emfluence, an interactive marketing agency in Kansas City, presented email marketing best practices, including top 10 lists for effective email campaigns, which you can view here.
