Unofficial ‘Startup Season’ begins this week in Louisville
Groups like the LDA, Forge Louisville, Louisville EnterpriseCorp and host of other Derby City agitators have been working to jumpstart the local tech startup community for a while now, and many of our efforts are coming to a head in the next few weeks — as the events listed below will clearly demonstrate. If you’re looking to get into the startup game you need to be at one or more (or all) of these get-togethers and workshops:

Fri Sep 14, 2012
Fri Sep 14, 2012 – Mon Sep 17, 2012
Where: Med Center 2 – 1048 E. Chestnut Street 40204
Startup Weekend is a global grassroots movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures. Anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams organically form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and then it’s a 54-hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. The weekends culminate with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders with another opportunity for critical feedback. Whether entrepreneurs found companies, find a cofounder, meet someone new, or learn a skill far outside their usual 9-to-5, everyone is guaranteed to leave the event better prepared to navigate the chaotic but fun world of startups.
Tue Sep 18, 2012
5:30pm – 8pm StartupPALOOZA!
Where: Ice House – 217 East Main Street, 40202
During IdeaFestival week this September, the Ice House in downtown Louisville, will be turned into a high-octane entrepreneurial showcase as innovation-driven companies from in and around Kentucky show off their hot new ideas, products and technologies.
That’s just a sampling of the tech events in and around Louisville. You can follow them all with the Louisville Digital Events Calendar.
