Dr. Stuart Williams is executive and scientific director at the Cardiovascular Innovation Institute, a partnership between the University of Louisville and Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s Health Care. An expert in biomedical engineering, he will discuss cutting edge heart-and-vascular research, including artificial hearts, nanotechnology, and regenerative medicine.
The Cardiovascular Innovation Institute (CII) is an internationally established research enterprise created to understand the mechanisms of heart, peripheral vascular and microcirculatory disease.  It is a collaboration between the University of Louisville and Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s HealthCare.  The mission of the CII is to improve lives through world-class cardiovascular research, scientific discovery, and new enterprise creation.

When mobile payment systems first came on the scene a few years ago, there was very little competition, which meant that the few companies that did exist were allowed to rest on their laurels and let their services stagnate. It seemed quite simple when you really thought about it. The customer swiped their credit card, signed with their finger, and completed the transaction, but no one seemed able to replicate the success of the early companies who made it possible. Thankfully there eventually came a second wind in the business, bringing in a rush of new competitors and allowing competition to once again flourish.
