I am honored to be moderating our Tuesday April 13 Social Media Club South Florida panel discussion entitled “Big Companies Get Real: The importance of Community” at FAU Auditorium at Broward College (2912 College Avenue, Davie). The event is FREE.

One of the things that sparked this particular panel’s creation was the exceptional response to a crisis by @SeaWorld_Parks back in late-February.  At that time, we as a club felt our audience would enjoy hearing from an entity that so skillfully used Social Media in a time when being serious outweight being fluffy.  As a result, the club invited @AnneFischer, Lifestyle & Digital Marketing Director from Sea World Parks and Entertainment, and we are delighted that she will be appearing three hours south of her home market to engage with our group.

With Sea World in place, we were fortunate to add Mallory Colliflower (@malcolli) of @AutoNation, who will discuss her company’s excellent use of Social Media as well as the recent Toyota recall situation, and Craig Agranoff (@Lapp), who recently co-authored a book entitled Do-It-Yourself Online Reputation Management, will discuss the do’s and dont’s that business should follow when entering any social media campaign.

Some of the topics I hope to cover with the panel include:

• Case studies of your successful social media activities
• How decisions are made during a crisis situation
• Mistakes companies make that can damage their online repuation
• Goals all companies should have via social media
• Location-based apps: Important for companies?

When our panel wraps up at 9 p.m., you are invited over to Gatsby’s (1805 South University Drive, Davie) where we will continue our discussions and “after-hours” networking in Private Room #2.  Drink specials include half-priced draft beers.
