GeekforGood.net, CoLab Nashville and Social Media Club Nashville are combining forces to benefit a 25 year old local non-profit.
Flex your creative muscles and give
back to the community with a 24-hour
design-a-thon* benefitting a deserving
non-profit in Middle Tennessee.
We’re asking for copywriters, marketing/strategy
folks, graphic designers, Web developers and more.
Even if you want to participate and don’t do creative/
technology for a living, we still need tweeters,
bloggers and volunteers for other areas as well.
(Coordinators have been selected to direct volunteers
on site.) All you need to do is show up with your
sleeping bag and equipment (computer, pen and
paper, or whatever you need to work with.) We’ll
provide food, caffeine and entertainment in the
Doors open at 11:00 a.m. on July 24.
Breakfast will be provided to participants, followed by
an introduction of objectives and format at 11:00 a.m.
The design-a-thon begins at 12:00 a.m. Local media
will be present.
*We highly encourage participants to spend the entire 24 hours at
CoLab but it is not required.

I have had several members of other Social Media Club Chapters ask me how they can help Nashville, in our greatest time of need.
I ask that you pass this information along to your Chapter and ask them to either make donations to the Community Foundation of Middle TN OR purchase a shirt at Cool People Care and ALL proceeds go to flood relief efforts. Both these Organizations are LOCAL so the money will stay in Nashville, I vouch for both of them so you're money is safely going to those who need it most.
If you do not have money to donate, please just offer your prayers and support the big companies who have swept in to help recovery efforts like Tide Loads of Hope. Nashville residents have been asked by Mayor Dean to cut their water intake by half since we are currently running on only one water treatment plant in the entire city. I hope Tide can handle all the laundry I'm bringing because I'm defaulting to wearing things over and over....don't worry, I sniff it first. =)
Thank you again for your thoughts and prayers for all the families affected by this tradgey, this is going to be a long term recovery so don't forget about Nashville over the next few weeks/months!

We wanted to ask the community to see what types of events really capture your interest most. We're also interested in hearing who in the community you want to learn from? Remember, Social Media Club Nashville is for the community so the more participation and interaction, the more we hope you will get from it. We encourage you to present an idea or passion, related to social media, that you think our Nashville audience would learn from. If you're interested in presenting or want to nominate someone, please email JessicaRMurray at gmail dot com.
