The Power of Email Marketing & Social Media
After Mozcation invaded Portsmouth, NH with SEO awesomeness, the technology excitement continued as SMCNH and Constant Contact presented to a sold out venue of Seacoast businesses at: The Power of Email Marketing & Social Media – Grow and Brand Your Business, hosted by the Portsmouth Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by Citizens Bank.
Interested participants filled the room at Granite State College at Pease Tradeport and were met by Katherine Derby of UNH and Alaine Hansen of Parma for membership registration and a warm welcome from Doug Bates, Portsmouth Chamber President. Corissa St. Laurent of Constant Contact took the stage and energetically explained the importance of effective email marketing communication, best practices, and to how to engage and inform. A great tip – the formula for a results driven headline:
- Decide what you want to share
- Mimic magazine headlines
- Apply a formula: number or ? + adjective + keyword + promise
Concluding with big round of applause from the now email savvy audience, it was time for the SMCNH to present. With an introduction by Shaun Davies of Jaffarian Automotive Group, the seminar kicked off with a strategy overview with Brian DeKoning of Raka Creative. Before you begin your social media implementation, know who you are as a company; what you want to communicate and who will be handling the role. Doug Ridley from Vital Design complimented the Strategy session with information about a Content Calendar. By mapping out what you’re going to post and when on a weekly or monthly basis will save you time and tie in with Sales & Marketing efforts. Jason Boucher from UNH Marketing & Communication then shared his expertise on Facebook with appropriate image sizes, analytic tools, the effectiveness of sharing and how UNH has been successful with their social media strategy and content. Crystal Paradis of Brown & Company Design then presented on Twitter and the anatomy of a tweet, how businesses use it for customer service, promotion, and information sharing. Melanie Burger of Buzz on a Budget explained the ever popular Pinterest, and gave examples of how businesses who aren’t sure how to showcase their services can make beautiful boards to showcase their products, information, and brand.
And while because of time, we couldn’t cover other popular platforms such as Google +, Linkedin, Instagram, YouTube and FourSquare, we invited interested participants to get in touch with us to host a Social Media Lunch and Learn. Please contact us at: smcnewhampshire[at]gmail[dot]com
