This past Thursday, Social Media Club NYC held a meeting about the best ways for businesses and individuals to successfully utilize LinkedIn. The meeting was moderated by SMCNYC board member Danielle Simon. The speakers included:
- Melonie Dodaro, founder of Top Dog Social Media;
- Nathan Egan, CEO of PeopleLinx; and
- Ruben Quinones, director of new media at Path Interactive.
It was a fun and active event where the topics ranged from how corporations are using LinkedIn to specific profile improvements. At one point, audience members had their LinkedIn profiles analyzed by the panel.
This past Thursday, SMCNYC held it's monthly meeting. Howard Greenstein moderated a discussion among all the attendees and guests Peter Bordes, founder and CEO of Internet Media Labs; and Meghan Peters, Mashable’s community manager.

Hashtags are becoming a very important part of expression. Bordes says, “Simplicity is the new innovation.” The younger generation is going to Instagram and Vine, because it is about being able to do the simpler things. He thinks hashtags will be probably be one of the more important attributes of media going forward.
Last Thursday, Text100 and SMCNYC hosted an event about the future of content marketing, which is an important topic for companies to fully understand. According to the Content Marketing Institute, marketers spend a quarter of their budget on content marketing with 60 percent planning to increase their content marketing budgets in the future.
It was a fantastic event, and we're very glad that Text100 parntered with SMCNYC.

On Thursday 4/18, Social Media Club of NYC had a meeting regarding Social Media Measurement. Doh Young Jung, data scientist at Brandwatch, was one of the speakers at the event. The second speaker was Martin Murtland, vice president of platform management at PR Newswire.
