It was a really exciting inaugural meeting last night with 40 people turning out.  We were getting stong interest leading up to the meeting but you never know if people are going to come so we were all a bit nervous.  

We had everyone take a short survey so we could gauge the level of involvement in social media and pretty much everyone was using tools in some way.  We had a great mix of people - not just SM/web industry folks.  There were business people, artists, teachers and even a couple of local government people.

I introduced everyone to the concept of Social Media Club, a little a bit of history and what's coming down the road and we talked for a while about Facebook privacy.  Then  some good chatting over pizza, beer and wine. 

Everyone seems pumped for the next meeting and we've had some good action on twitter and new fans on Facebook.  We're running our membership list off of SMC.org and we doubled our members so that's great.
