Planning Meeting Recap and Information on our Launch Event!
In between these crazy Northeastern snow storms, Jane Couto, Joann Lefebvre, and myself got together at the (add)ventures office to start laying the foundation for Social Media Club Providence. We covered a ton of stuff and are ready to divide and conquer to create a spectacular launch event that will bring Providence's best tweeters, Facebook junkies, FourSquare rockstars, and blogging fiends together in one room!
We have set a tentative date of February 23 at 6:30 pm for our launch event. We have a few venues we are reaching out to, but if you are interested in offering up some space (and possibly some food and drink specials) we'd be happy to consider it! The launch party will be structured like a tweet-up so we can gauge the interest in the club and recruit even more fantastic minds for the board. All you need to bring is yourself, your smart phone of choice, and your party hat.
After our launch event we will be working on planning more structured events that focus on industry trends, best practices, and other areas that will help your learn or perfect your craft. In our planning meeting today we discussed what event topics will best serve the Rhode Island social media community and came to a few conclusions:
There is a great need for Social Media 101 courses for small business owners There are a ton of existing tech events that would make great partners for SMCPVD Healthcare and Education would be interesting "industry" topics that would draw great panelists and an energized crowd Consistency is key. If we can wow you at the launch and keep delivering, you will keep coming back. Agree with these findings? Have something to add? Let us know in the comments.
