Recap June 9 #HereWeMeme Panel Discussion: Keeping the Kings in Sacramento

“Without Twitter, without Facebook, without social media in general, we’d be Anaheim Royals fans this next season.”  Carmichael Dave

The fight to keep the Kings in Sacramento captured the hearts and attention of NBA fans across the nation.  Leading the charge were social media-inspired grassroots campaigns #HereWeBuild, #HereWeStay, SacDeflated.com and their spinoff campaigns #HereWeSit and #HereWePurple.

Our June 9th event featured  radio personality Carmichael Dave as the Keynote speaker and a panel of ordinary people in Sacramento who took extraordinary measures to launch a mostly social media campaign to keep the Sacramento Kings in Sacramento for the 2011-2012 season.

Bryan Srabian, Director of Social Media for the San Francisco Giants, moderated the panel of #HereWeBuild, #HereWeStay and #SacDeflated movers and shakers.

Facebook for Business Workshop Recap

Josh Unfried, the CEO of Wind Farm Marketing, was the speaker at Social Media Club of Sacramento's recent workshop, “Advanced Facebook for Business”. The free workshop, held at Drexel University's Sacramento campus, attracted nearly 80 students, and was live streamed to dozens more using Drexel's high-tech classroom facilities.  Unfried taught SMCSac members, many of whom run or work for local businesses, how to take their Facebook presence to the next level. In addition to the better known benefits of improving customer relationships, staying top of mind, driving sales through promotions and increasing visibility, Unfried asserts that Facebook is now allowing businesses to "transform customer service into marketing".

It's Official! SMCSAC applied to be an Official SMC Chapter!
