RECAP: Furballs and Facebook
On December 13, the Tacoma chapter "adopted" the non-profit Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County to brainstorm ideas and collectively help the organization take its 2012 social media plan to the next level. Attendees brought cat or dog food donations to help benefit the shelter animals and their thinking caps to help Marguerite Richmond, Development Director at the Humane Society, who is charged with all marketing, including social media. Our friends at JayRay sponsored the event and provided food and drink. Marguerite kicked off the event by providing the group with background about the Humane Society's business objectives and challenges as well as how they've used social media to date. From there, the group brainstormed social media messaging and tactics for general adoption drives and spay/neuter education. The SMC Tacoma Board took notes of the group discussion and provided them back to Marguerite for her records and consideration. Overall, the Humane Society was thankful for the chapter's time and attendees enjoyed getting an "inside look" at the Humane Society's operations.
