Meeting #16 – The UnMeeting

Social Media Club is about learning, and the leadership team tries to bring some great speakers in every month to do just that.

But we have an immense amount of knowledge within our own community. So, given the warm weather, we thought we’d leave July “speaker-less”. That’s right, we are not featuring any particular speaker this month!

Do you have a topic that interests you? Perhaps a short presentation you want to present? Perhaps you want to facilitate a workshop or discussion on a particular topic? This is your chance!

Social Media Camp, October 3rd

Victoria’s first Social Media Camp is coming on October 3rd, 2010.

We have already confirmed great speakers, such as Scott Stratten (@unmarketing), Dave Olsen (@daveohoots) from HootSuite, and Clayton Stark (@ClaytonStark) from Flock.

Leadership team members Chris Burdge and myself are organizing this event at the Victoria Conference Centre. We hope lots of locals, and lots of people from elsewhere will attend!

The first 100 registrants receive a signed copy of Scott Stratten’s new book, “UnMarketing: Stop Marketing. Start Engaging.”

To the best of our knowledge, this is the first “Social Media Camp” held in Canada. We are still accepting speaker applications.

Welcome to Social Media Club Victoria

Welcome to Social Media Club Victoria, where innovators from the local area can meet for monthly events to share, engage and collaborate with the community on the issues of social media and technology.

Please pardon our dust as we are in the process of building out this portal on the official Social Media Club website. For now, you can get information on our events and activities at http://socialmediaclub.ca

June 4th Tweetup Featuring Co-Founders of Social Media Club

Victoria is very proud to host the Co-Founders of the global Social Media Club organization, Kristie Wells and Chris Heuer.

They are visiting our lovely city from San Francisco for one night only!

Let’s show them a fabulous time at the Bard & Banker Scottish Pub, 1022 Government Street, in Beautiful Victoria, British Columbia!

Please retweet the message, and RSVP on Facebook (click “Share”, too).

The upstairs bar and surrounding area are booked especially for us, but try not to be late – it’s a Friday night, so the bar has warned us they will let tables go if we are not using them by 7:30pm!
