Evolution of News & Community
Thu. September 23 2010
1:00am - 4:00am
We'll gather 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, upstairs at Varsity Grill in Tacoma for the first Fall meetup of Social Media Club Tacoma. We'll all enjoy each other's company, of course, but there's also a program. The program will be about the evolution of news and community. We've got a great lineup of people to present and to start the conversation. You can see a lot more information about the speakers on our blog.
Mark Briggs coined the term Journalism 2.0 and wrote a book about it. He is co-founder of Serra Media, a Seattle-based technology company. He previously worked at The News Tribune.
Brent Champaco is Editor of University Place Patch, an effort by AOL to bring hyper-local news to small- and midsize communities across the country. His site will be the first Patch in Washington. Brent previously worked at The News Tribune.
Doug Conarroe is Assistant Managing Editor for Online at the TheNewsTribune.com, a site that averages 1.2 million monthly unique visitors.
Seth Long is the Director of New Media for Sound Publishing where he manages PNWLocalNews.com(home of Sound's 30+ community news sites) and oversees the company's online and mobile initiatives.
