SMCRVA Feb 2012: Mobile Trends with Jeff Rock

Join Social Media Club Richmond for our first educational event of 2012. 

In the past half-decade, the smartphone has changed the way we shop, share, play and work. More recently, the iPad has pushed the boundaries of handheld computing even further. Where do we go from here? What's next on the mobile horizon and how will it impact our personal & professional lives? In response to requests for programming related to trends in media and technology, SMCRVA is happy to welcome back Jeff Rock, Co-Founder and Creative Director at Mobelux, to give us a look intoour mobile futures. 

For the uninitiated, Jeff was on our Tumblr panel last year, but this time around, we wanted to give him the whole stage to talk about the subject he is truly passionate about. Given his in-depth knowledge of the world of mobile platforms, the transformative power these devices have already demonstrated and the immense opportunities that lie just around the corner, when Jeff Rock speaks, you can't help but learn. 

For those less familiar with "mobile" as a topic, fear not. We've enlisted SMCRVA's own Doug Meacham to offer something of a primer, a warm-up act, if you will, to share some introductory level insights about the history and present of mobile technology that will get everyone up to speed before Jeff takes over and gives us a glimpse at tomorrow. It promises to be one of our most enlightening programs ever, so get your tickets now!

This month's event will be held at Gallery 5 (gallery5arts.org) in Historic Jackson Ward. Food will be provided and a variety of beverages will be available as always (we're still working out the menu, bar details).
