Casey Brewton
Hi! My name is Casey Brewton. I've come to Charlotte by way of Texas, Davidson, and New York City. Before moving to Charlotte in September 2009, I worked at Christie’s in New York City. At Christie’s and under the tutelage of one of the best salesmen this side of the Great Wall of China, I learned the necessity and persuasiveness of person-to-person communication. Watching him sell an auction lot by lot each to a specific person taught me that knowing your customers as individuals, listening to them, and caring for their needs and desires is the key to running a good business.
In July 2009, as I prepared for my move from Manhattan to the Queen City, I discovered an incredible website called Charlotte ViewPoint. As I perused the site, I suddenly realized that Charlotte ViewPoint could seriously use some social media and that I was just the gal to do it. After meeting the publisher, Mark Peres, I was hired as a semi-volunteer to take over the social media efforts even while I still lived in New York.
Once I arrived in Charlotte, I took a full-time position at the Arts & Science Council to work on their annual fund drive campaign. In that capacity, I was presented the opportunity to assist with some marketing projects and to maintain the website and Facebook fan page for the Young Donors Society. I soon found that other organizations within Charlotte’s cultural sector needed social media assistance as well. Opening Night Insiders, North Carolina Dance Theatre’s young professionals group, brought me on as a board member to chair their social media committee.
At this point I realized that I should make social media my business. And CLB Social Communications was born. In my professional life, I am passionate about two things: (1) empowering start-ups and small to mid-size businesses through social communication and (2) implementing a culture of conscious capitalism form the very very inception of my business. Knowing how transformative social media can be, I feel it is my calling to take my passion and share my knowledge with others who need it both at home and around the world.
Prior to my stint in the Big Apple, I attended Davidson College and graduated in 2008 with a BA in art history. I am originally from Houston, TX.
