For more than 25 years, he has devoted himself to his career in strategic management, marketing communications and public affairs at such organizations as McDonnell Douglas, the Missouri Botanical Garden, Aaron Cushman & Associates, the Bi-State Development Agency, ITT and ACF Industries. He takes from his broad experience and weaves great presentations that entertain and inform. His leadership guided the Alton Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Missourians for Higher Education campaign as CEO/COO.
Arnold is currently the Vice President of Marketing and Communications for United Way of Tampa Bay and formerly the Director of Marketing for The Bar Plan, a nationally recognized firm specializing in risk management services for attorneys. He served as the president of the Alton Regional Convention and Visitors Bureau in the Midwest for more than seven years. His leadership guided significant growth in community tourism efforts throughout a three-county region immediately north of Saint Louis. Arnold’s determination in building strategic partnerships with national tourism organizations and counseling new tourism development both helped make the region a significant weekend destination realizing more than one million visitors a year.
A graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Journalism, Arnold has focused his career dynamic, strategic marketing communications. He is accredited with the Public Relations Society of America (APR), a former member of the National Press Club, a state delegate to the Mississippi River Parkway Commission, a former officer of the Illinois Council of Convention and Visitors Bureaus, a member of the International Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus and serves on numerous boards including the Meeting of the Great Rivers Scenic Byway Council as well as the National Great Rivers Museum Board. He was appointed to the Lewis & Clark Bicentennial Commission by the Illinois governor and served as an officer of that commission. His creativity has been recognized with such awards as an Addy Nomination for Outdoor Communication, an Emmy Nomination for Broadcast Documentary on the tropical rain forest of Puerto Rico, an IABC Bronze Quill Award for Video Production and he received a National Pro/Comm Award for Creativity in Advertising.
During his career he has developed a number of high profile special events and managed the VIP visits of such notables as Capt. Jacques Cousteau, the Dalai Lama of Tibet, PM Margaret Thatcher and His Royal Highness the Emperor of Japan. He is an accomplished news media relations specialist who has worked with such notable outlets as the New York Times, USA Today, CNN, Southern Living, National Geographic, Christian Science Monitor, NPR and other periodicals, trade publications and networks.
Arnold has most recently completed the prestigious Leadership Tampa executive development program of the Tampa Chamber of Commerce and he attended the CASE Institute on Communications at Notre Dame University.
