Business Wire Offers College Students Opportunity to Meet Warren Buffet

In a new campaign launched today by Business Wire, to celebrate their 50th anniversary in 2011, they are promoting a video contest open to U.S. and Canadian college students only, which asks, What is the future of public relations and communications?

The top five video submissions will be posted to Business Wire’s Facebook page, with the winning submission voted on by Facebook fans, and only one submission winning the ultimate prize, to meet Warren Buffet. The winner will score a trip to New York City for three days and two nights, with airfare and hotel included, but that’s not even the best part! The winner will attend an exclusive luncheon with Warren Buffett and Cathy Baron Tamraz, Business Wire Chariman and CEO.

There are few people in this World I would love to meet more, as no one can argue Warren Buffet’s success and the influence he has on the media industry as a whole.

“We continue to emphasize innovation and leadership in developing new ways for communicators to reach their audiences, and this contest is a fun way to see the vision of the next generation of communicators”

via Cathy Baron Tamraz for Business Wire.

With the growth of social media, traditional public relations has evolved so I look forward to watching the top submissions on Business Wire’s Facebook page this Summer, shortly after the deadline on July 15, 2011. Video submissions require participants be United States or Canadian students at two or four-year colleges, entries are received by the deadline (July 15, 2011), videos are under three minutes, and most importantly, you share your thoughts on the future of public relations.

Submission and full content details are located on the side bar of the Business Wire Facebook page: www.facebook.com/businesswire

I encourage all higher ed students to invest some time into thinking about your answer, and submit a video, what do you have to lose?  The once in a lifetime opportunity to meet Warren Buffet would be well worth the investment, if you win.

Happy Birthday Business Wire!

P.S. If there’s a +1 to the winning luncheon, I can clear out my calendar in September. 🙂
