Mobile devices seem to be the new trend in 2012. Having received an iPad 2 and all the accessories from my wonderful family at Christmas, my interest in mobile devices has increased exponentially. James Bucki, a former About.com Guide defines mobiles devices as “generic term used to refer to a variety of devices that allow people to access data and information from where ever they are.”
Depending where your live in the world, there are plenty of statistics showing the level of use of these mobile devices. Love Neet, a Social Media Club Member has written a number of blog posts suggesting the level of interest in the next coming years.
- Mobile Phones and Smartphones-most common web-access devices worldwide by 2013
- Social Media and Mobile Trends for 2012
As a corporate educator my interest in my iPad 2 and other mobile devices such as cell phones, iphones, smartphones, android phones, iPods, tablets, android tablets, iPads and iPad 2 is as a business tool, focusing on using these devices to maximize productivity with minimal stress, and creating a collaborative environment where people can participate in their own learning through conversation and collaboration.
And yet the 15 people I asked didn’t seem interested in using their mobile device as a business tool. Most, depending the age, answered the following,
- 18 – 25 year olds in North America preferred their phone than a tablet or iPad.
- 25 and up have a mobile phone and have bought an iPad or tablet using them as a reader, to show their photographs and to access their emails.
So I’m curious, what do the members in the Social Media Club use their mobile device for? Please take this four question survey.
