Social Media Camp Helps Serve Community Need in San Diego

Social Media Camp is hitting San Diego, for a full-day event on Saturday, April 30th from 9am-5pm at Sony Electronic’s magnificent LEED certified building on their campus in Rancho Bernardo. Presented by Social Media Club, San Diego will be the 3rd city to host Social Media Camp after New York and San Francisco.

To align with our global missions, Social Media Camp will help to teach media literacy, promote industry standards and share best practices among the San Diego community.

Many of the Social Media Camp San Diego speakers will be leading important discussions on the evolution of the industry and our speakers include, Becky Carroll – NBC news Social Media reporter, Steve Eisenberg – Professor of Social Media at UCSD, Sukhjit Ghag – Social Media Evangelist for Sony Electronics and other members of the Professional social media community in San Diego.

We are thankful to each of our speakers who are donating their time to provide programming which reflects the community need. Some of our current sessions include, Event promotion with social media, Non-profit social media strategies, Internet marketing for beginners, and how-to use social media for your job search. One of our main priorities on this day is to provide a low cost opportunity for the unemployed and underemployed to learn core social media job skills that will help them find a new job, or help expand their skill set for their current jobs.

Social Media Camp will provide education, fun and relationship-building in a hybrid conference atmosphereone part single track conference/workshop/training and one part bar camp (open space). It is an event where teachers are students, and everyone learns from each other.

Big thanks to our Social Media Club San Diego chapter leaders, Chris Husong, Richie Edquid and Jen Boyd!
