Social Media Club Examiner’s Michael Stelzner posted an interview with Social Media Club Founder, Chris Heuer.
In the post, Getting Social Media Right: Insights from the Social Media Club, Heuer shares some of the reasons he launched Social Media Club in 2006, with a main purpose to narrow the gap in knowledge when social media was a truly emerging technology.
Did you know that back pre-Twitter & Facebook (as we know it) days, Chris used the old word of mouth tactics and blogger outreach to rally support around the idea of launching Social Media Club’s in every community. He first visited London, Miami, New York City, and Orlando, among others, to begin what has now evolved into 240+ chapters in 41 countries.
Heuer mentions (4:50 minute mark) the necessity for brands to realize it’s about quality, not quantity and shares some his past experience of brands that “get it” and those that didn’t.
