Big Island: Twin tweetups in East Hawai’i
Noon-2:00 p.m. – TWEETUP FOR LUNCH
Join us for lunch in Pahoa on Sunday, June 30 at the new Mauka-Makai restaurant, meet your social media friends in real life, and support Chef Thomas Aiu’s launch of “farm to table” dining while enjoying ono grinds and talk story.
Located at what used to be KFC, the Mauka-Makai family restaurant is dedicated to serving healthy meals using ingredients from local farmers, fishermen and ranchers. Chef Thomas is also committed to supporting local community organizations, including the Hawai’i Youth Business Center.
For those not familiar with Pahoa The address is 15-1450 Kahakai Blvd. Woodlands Shopping Center Pahoa, Hawai’i 96778.

You’re also invited to a tweetup at Liliuokalani Park in Hilo for a walkabout and talk story with members of Social Media Club Hawai’i, local tweeters, and Facebook friends to celebrate Social Media Day with your ‘ohana and hoaloha. Look for us under the banyans by the big rocks on the Hilo side of the park.

11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.-ish – LIFE’S A BEACH
We’re putting the social back into social and we’d like you to join SMCHI for an ohana-friendly day which celebrates #SMDAY in a way only #Hawaii can: on the beach!
It’s a Sunday Talk Story. The official program is to enjoy one another in person, see old friends and make some new ones.
We’ll stake out over on Magic Island side of Ala Moana Beach Park (use the #SMCHI hashtag for more exact location information on the morning of).
Please RSVP on Mashable’s Honolulu Meetup page for burgers and hotdogs for our grilling pleasure. Feel free to bring something to share and whatever you’d like to drink, we’ll provide the grill.
Parking should be quite easy now that Sears is closed, easy to walk over.
There are some Geocaching sites in Ala Moana Park. Bring your smart phone and go on a digital treasure hunt. Check out the sites and locations here.
